What does a moving company cost in 2026?

All guide prices in one place: per move, per heavy item and per extra service — plus the factors that decide where you land in the band.

A complete move of a regular home in 2026 costs on average € 400 to € 2,500, including van and movers. A small flat within the same city sits at the bottom of that band; a large family home with a full attic and shed, further away or without a lift, at the top. A business or office move has its own band of € 1,000 to € 7,500 per project.

The price is driven by a few recognisable factors: the volume (rooms plus attic, cellar and shed), the distance between the addresses, and the carrying work — an upper floor without a lift, a narrow staircase or a long walk to the van adds up in hours. The date matters too: around the end of the month, when rental contracts expire, demand peaks. On top of that, Randstad rates run 10-20% higher.

Extra services have their own bands. Heavy items such as a piano or safe cost € 150 to € 450 per item, a packing and unpacking service € 200 to € 800, a furniture lift with operator € 150 to € 350 per half-day and temporary storage € 50 to € 150 per month. That way you build a quote from exactly the parts you need — and nothing more.

To compare sharply, request several quotes for exactly the same job and set them against the price index. Mention what you handle yourself (packing, staging boxes downstairs): it saves hours and therefore money, and it makes the quotes comparable.
